what counts as serving on a committee?
Merely attending a service project does not count as serving on a committee. Candidates or members can volunteer to serve as a committee chair or committee member. Some committees include Lunch Committee, Dinner Committee, Clean Up Committee, and Festival of Trees. For certain committee activities, participating only counts as service, not as serving on a committee. For example, serving as a Site Coordinator for VITA counts as serving on a committee, but simply volunteering for VITA counts for service only.

what is vita?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) is a national program providing free assistance to low income, elderly, limited English proficient and disabled individuals who require assistance in preparing their tax returns and cannot afford the services of a paid professional tax preparer.
The VITA Program is a valuable community asset as many taxpayers are in need of assistance in preparing and filing their returns. The complexities and the nature of tax law are obstacles that discourage and frustrate many low-income taxpayer's efforts to complete their own returns. In fact, many taxpayers who are entitled to refunds do not even file a tax return at all because they do not understand the various credits and deductions to which they may be entitled.

WHAT IS CONSIDERED BUSINESS CASUAL AND BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL DRESS?
BAP events will specify which business attire is appropriate. If you are not sure, ask! Be aware -- Accounting Business Casual may differ from the Business Casual of other professions!
For all events: no cologne! The interview rooms are very small, and some people suffer from allergies. Women may use a very small amount of perfume.
Business Casual Dress for Men
Dress slacks. Button-down, long-sleeved shirts of a solid color or conservative pattern. Dressy shoes, not like casual Doc Martens. Shoes should match the belt. Ties are optional; if you wear one, it should be worn correctly, and should be of a conservative pattern. Polo shirts are not acceptable for business casual (contrary to what may have been said in the past). No shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, tank tops, cropped tops, hats, or flip flops.
Business Casual Dress for Women
Skirts, which are no shorter than 3 inches above the knee, or dress slacks. Nylons should be worn with skirts. Dressy blouses, sweater sets, and button-down shirts are all acceptable, so long as they are not too tight or too revealing. Shoes should be nice-looking, but closed-toe. Heels are acceptable, but should not make it hard to walk. No t-shirts, shorts, spandex pants, crop tops, tank or halter tops (unless it is covered up by a sweater), sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, sundresses which are backless or have straps less than 1 inch in width, leather pants, and flip flops.
Business Professional Dress for Men
Matching suit, with jacket. Button-down shirt, of a solid color or conservative pattern. Nice tie -- no silly or flamboyant designs. Matching socks. Polished shoes. Belt should match shoes. Suits should be dark in color (navy, grey, or black). Tan is acceptable, but less preferred. Quiet pinstripes or patterns are fine. Basically, a step up from Business Casual Dress.
Business Professional Dress for Women
Similar to Business Professional for men. Matching suit with jacket; skirts or slacks are both acceptable. Suit can be other colors besides gray, navy, and black, but should still be of a conservative pattern. Button-down shirts or nice quality blouses are both acceptable. Nylons are required. Polished shoes that look professional. Should be a step up from Business Casual Dress.
Casual Dress for Everyone (only for firm activities designated as just "casual")
Shorts and jeans are acceptable. Polo shirts are acceptable. No clothing should be too tight or ripped or "distressed." Women may wear tank tops with wide straps. Sandals and open toed shoes are acceptable. You may want to keep in mind that many professionals will be coming straight from work, and may still be dressed in Business Casual, though you do not need to wear Business Casual yourself.
